Fun Thursday!
It's a beautiful night to hang out at City Park and enjoy Leah Chase and Cindy Scott for the Twilight Garden Concert Series! Two great ladies come together for one great concert. Leah Chase is a versatile singer who makes a smooth transition from jazz-laden love songs to the up-tempo. Her artistry is sensual and soul stirring. A very visual performer, Leah quickly establishes a warm rapport with her audience. Cindy Scott is a rare breed of artist - comfortably covering a variety of music, undaunted by genre barriers and walls that scare lesser singers into pursing a singular line of musical thought. Don't miss it. The gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out...$10 for adults and $3 for children.
Need a little art, culture and music? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art (925 Camp St.) - better known as Ogden after Hours. Tonight the Ogden has the Jimmy Carpenter Quartet. SSaxophonist Jimmy Carpenter has been recording music and performing live for 25 years. Since relocating to New Orleans in 2004, he has contributed his talent on the saxophone to numerous major label and local recordings including Eric Lindell's Gulf Coast Highway, Walter “Wolfman” Washington’s Doin’ The Funky Thing, and Honey Island Swamp Band's Wishing Well. He wrote and performed the horn arrangements on all of these recordings. Be sure to head on over to the bar for this month's signature drink - Mint Julep - *Remember with your Ogden membership all of these excellent concerts are FREE!!!
