Wacky Weekend Fun w/ Stompers, Bar Golf, Dog Biscuits, Daiquiris, Camels & Ostriches - Oh My!

It's a wacky weekend in the Big Easy!

You want to be a 610 Stomper?  Then come on down for 610 Stomper Auditions! This weekend is ROUND 1 Tryouts: Saturday and Sunday at The Maison (508 Frenchmen Street). Registration: 11A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Auditions: 1:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. You will be taught a dance that you will have to perform in front of a panel of judges...and a raucous crowd. If you pass the challenge then it's on to Round 2 next weekend! So head on down for some sexy man dancing all weekend long!

It's a Bar Golf Challenge at Pat O'Brien's in the Quarter starting up at 1:00 pm!! Bar Golf is a golf-themed bar crawl. We are not really going to go play golf. It is a drinking game where different bars represent the "holes" of the course. To play our bar golf course go to the bars or “holes” marked on the scorecard and order a drink that matches up with that bar. You will receive a score that coordinates with that drink. Your bartender will mark the scorecard for you accordingly depending on what you order. When finished with all holes, turn it in at the scoring table on the Patio at Pat O’Brien’s to be entered into a drawing for prizes. Scorecards must be turned in by 3:30pm to be counted. HAVE FUN! Prizes will be awarded based on time to complete course, best dressed and random drawings. Drawings will be at 4pm on the Patio. Fun!!!

Start off your afternoon at The Burning Love Biscuit Eating Contest at the Liberty Parking Lot (3205 Magazine) from 2:00 to 4:30 pm. The Orleans and Jefferson Parish firefighters are challenging each other in a dog biscuit eating contest (yes, that's right dog biscuits!), but it's for a great cause - The Jefferson Parish SPCA and Animal Rescue New Orleans. This FREE event features food (besides dog biscuits) and music! So come on down with your pups and enjoy!

The 2nd Annual New Orleans Daiquiri Festival is today and entry is FREE!! The New Orleans Daiquiri Festival is an annual event to celebrate New Orleans' most controversial & iconic cocktail: The Frozen Daiquiri!!
What other cocktail can you buy by the gallon?
What other cocktail is served in such a variety of signature cups & glasses?
What other cocktail is as much an outdoor accessory as it is a cocktail?
What other cocktail has shops that specialize in that cocktail exclusively?
So come on by 4000 St. Claude Avenue from 3:00 to 9:00 pm for food, crafts, DJS, and lots of drinks in celebration of the daiquiri in all it forms!! Music by DJ Pasta and Mod Dance Party DJs, daiquiri themed crafts and food from Empanada intifada and Eiffel Society, and to top it off a daiquiri contest!

Another wacky event this evening is at the Fair Grounds Race Course (1751 Gentilly Blvd.). Gates open at 4:00 pm for some Ostrich, Camel and Quarter Horse Races....Yes, you're reading that right - ostrich and camel racing...crazy!! Tickets are $10 for general admission and free for children 12 and under. There's gonna be Zydeco concert in the grandstands, but be sure to be there for the stars of the show - ostrich race at 7:10, camel race at 8:40 and even a sports mascot team race at 7:55!!
