The film, set in the French Quarter, and will run on an inflatable screen at the Old U.S. Mint (400 Esplanade Ave.) beginning around 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $6, with discounts for members of NOFS, LMF and Friends of the Cabildo. Join the Market in this celebration of the freshest seafood you could desire, as they serve up salad with crabmeat, fish plate with a your choice of squash and zucchini or baked macaroni, shimp pasta, homemade pound cake and homemade angel food cake and blueberry lemonade....Yum!

Happy Weekend with St. John's Eve, Some Egg Yolk and Helpin' Charmaine!
Happy Weekend!
Head down to the Quarter and to the Old U.S. Mint (400 Esplanade) for a FREE performance by Seguenon Kone at 2:00 pm. African drummer and New Orleans musical master Seguenon Kone performs with his band Ensemble Fatien, combining Jazz with thraditional Senegalese rhythms!
Don't forget today is St. John's Eve...so celebrate this evening with the annual St. John's Eve Headwashing Ceremony on the footbridge over Bayou St. John (near Cabrini High School) from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. There will be a headwashing ceremony (form of Vodou baptism) dedicated to Marie Laveau Wear all white and bring a white scarf or rag for your head (It will get dirty.) Also, be sure to bring an offering for Marie Laveau; she likes flowers, blue and white candles, Creole foods, hair ribbons and hair dressing supplies, or Vodou-esque items - Voodoo dolls, potions, gris-gris bags, or images of Marie Laveau.

Charmaine Neville was recently diagnosed with CADASIL syndrome, and is currently receiving treatment. Read more about her illness and progress. Funds raised by the event will go to pay for future treatment for Charmaine, and to help her recover from being unable to fully support herself since the onset of her illness.
Charmaine will also perform with her Charmaine Neville Band. A few more performers are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

There will also be a raffle and an auction of autographed New Orleans Saints and LSU Football memorabilia, including:
A football autographed by the Saints during this year's training.
A Saints basket of memorabilia and an LSU basket of memorabilia.
A framed print of a Fats Domino portrait by artist Michael Hunt, signed by both Fats and the artist.
A 2010 Most Valuable Player poster by artist Michael Hunt, signed by Drew Brees, Sean Payton, and the artist.
Tickets are $10, and concertgoers are encouraged to bring folding chairs if they like. The gates will open at 11 am, and from 11 to noon the Red Hot Brass Band will play throughout the grounds. The concert itself begins at noon and continues until 6 pm. Traditional Louisiana food will be for sale, including jambalaya and red beans and rice with sausage, as well as hot dogs and nachos, and a number of desserts. There will also be vendors selling beer and Coca-Cola products. All proceeds from food sales, and a portion of beverage sales, will go to pay for Charmaine Neville's treatment.

A powerful force on stage, her enthusiasm and showmanship ! Gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out...$10 for adults and $3 for children (it was $3 last year :)

Happy Summer - Let's celebrate!
Circus Parade!
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus presents - The Crescent City Summer Celebration Parade TODAY at 11:00 am - The second annual Crescent City Summer Celebration Parade will roll through downtown and begins at the intersection of Girod St. & Loyola Avenue. This amazing event is free and open to the public and will feature exotic animals and appearances by Ringling Bros. Ringmaster Brian Crawford Scott, clowns and performers. Guests will also have a chance to win FREE tickets to opening night by catching some of Ringling's exciting throws!
*The parade will commence at the New Orleans Arena and travel down Girod Street, turn left on Carondelet Street, down Poydras Street to Sugar Bowl Drive and conclude on W Stadium Drive back to the New Orleans Arena. As the parade comes to the end, a "watering" event will be held at the Loyola Avenue and Poydras Street intersection where spectators will have a chance to see how Ringling keeps its largest and most pampered animals cool in the summer heat. Don't miss all the fun!!

Circus Parade!
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus presents - The Crescent City Summer Celebration Parade TODAY at 11:00 am - The second annual Crescent City Summer Celebration Parade will roll through downtown and begins at the intersection of Girod St. & Loyola Avenue. This amazing event is free and open to the public and will feature exotic animals and appearances by Ringling Bros. Ringmaster Brian Crawford Scott, clowns and performers. Guests will also have a chance to win FREE tickets to opening night by catching some of Ringling's exciting throws!
*The parade will commence at the New Orleans Arena and travel down Girod Street, turn left on Carondelet Street, down Poydras Street to Sugar Bowl Drive and conclude on W Stadium Drive back to the New Orleans Arena. As the parade comes to the end, a "watering" event will be held at the Loyola Avenue and Poydras Street intersection where spectators will have a chance to see how Ringling keeps its largest and most pampered animals cool in the summer heat. Farmer's Market!
You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm. This month the Market welcomes Chris Gerica, daughter of Pete and Clara Gerica, one of their beloved fisher families at market, to the GPS tent. She's back this week with they'll have crabmeat and spring mix salad, black drum with green beans and dirty rice, shrimp stew, lemonade to wash it all down, and snickerdoodles and white chocolate chip cookies. They'll also have stuffed crabs packaged to go, so you don't have to worry about dinner either!
And if you want more fresh veggies the Hollygrove Market has a new pick-up location and hours for Tuesdays 12 pm-6 pm - No need to pre-order when you visit the market! Pick-up at Rosa F. Keller Community Center (4300 Broad @ Napoleon Ave.):

Don't miss out on the weekly wine tasting at Cork and Bottle (3700 Orleans) about 5:00 pm in Mid-City. Come sample some delicious vinos and kick off your early weekend right! You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm. This month the Market welcomes Chris Gerica, daughter of Pete and Clara Gerica, one of their beloved fisher families at market, to the GPS tent. She's back this week with boiled shrimp salad with Italian dressing, fresh caught seabream (unless her Dad catches something else) or stuffed crab with sautéed squash and zucchini or potato salad, boiled shrimp by the pound, stuffed crabs packaged to go, blondies, brownies and blueberry lemonade.. Swing by the market this Tuesday and pick up lunch, or dinner!

Head on over to the Ashe Cultural Center (1712 Oretha Castle Haley) and join the New Orleans Loving Festival for a FREE screening of acclaimed documentary THE LOVING STORY, co-presented by the New Orleans Film Society, HBO, Press Street, and the Charitable Film Network. Arrive early for a 6:30 p.m. reception. The screening will start at 7:00 p.m., and there will be a short discussion following the screening with a panel of speakers including Hamilton Simons-Jones, Annette Hollowell, and others.

Monday - Support a Charity w/Drinks and Music!

Spend your Monday night listening to some great music while helping out a great cause at Maison (508 Frenchmen) - Jamie and Lindsay Donate All Tips to The Barman's Fund! After hearing about the Barman's Fund, Jamie and Lindsay (bartender's at Maison) decided to donate all of their hard-earned tips from a Monday night shift to help out this worthwhile cause...and Maison has very generously offered to match what they make! In case you don't know, the Barman's Fund is a group of bartenders who donate a shift a month to the Fund. The money is then distributed to different local causes and charities. There are chapters in both NOLA and NYC.

COOL! NEW INTERVIEW STAGE
The National Park Service and the Louisiana State Museum are providing access to the beautiful new theater on the Third Floor of the Old U.S. Mint - where the Jazz and Heritage folks will present interviews with many of the performers. Audience members will hear first-hand how our artists learned their craft and carry on our culture. And it'll be a great place to get out of the heat and enjoy some cool air before heading back out for more dancing, eating and shopping. Interviews will be from noon to 5 p.m. both days of the festival.

Hooray for wine! It's the weekly wine tasting over at Cork & Bottle (Orleans at Moss St.) - from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Come out and sample some fantastic wines!

Come enjoy the June Vino on the Bayou wine tasting event tonight, featuring author Ann Benoit signing "Broussard's Restaurant and Courtyard Cookbook" and musical entertainment by T.J.B. Cemeteryscape Opening Reception - Tonight at the Arts Council of New Orleans (935 Gravier) from 5:00 to 7:00 pm..... Experience the historic beauty of cemeteries around the world! Discover a unique exhibit showcasing photographs that celebrate the beauty and historic value of cemeteries around the world. Photographs featured in the exhibit are selected by fine photographers Josephine Sacabo, Richard Sexton and Richard K. Leach, Art Director of Shutterbug and PHOTOgraphic magazine. All proceeds from Cemeteryscape sales benefit Save Our Cemeteries, a non-profit dedicated to preserving and protecting the cemeteries of New Orleans. No outside food or beverages will be permitted. Please bring a blanket (recommended) or folding chair for seating.
