You can get your day started off right and your Thanksgiving menu complete with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even grab some lunch! November brings Ann Churchill of Karma Kitchen to the Green Plate Special tent. Come try the smoked fish spread or pork belly and tangy slaw on a bagel, creamy fennel and oyster soup, grilled market vegetable salad with romesco vinaigrette, mushroom bread pudding with creamy Creole mustard sauce, braised greens with pomegranate molasses, sweet potato mash and Meyer lemon tarts with cornmeal crust.......yummy!!
Celebrate the Canal Street Lighting tonight! Stroll along Canal Street and watch as the Downtown Development District and the Astor Crowne Plaza (739 Canal)"flip the switch," turning on more than 1 million twinkling lights on New Orleans' grand corridor. The public is invited to stop by the Astor's St. Charles Ballroom just off the lobby from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and decorate your own holiday cookie while enjoying complimentary hot cocoa or apple cider. Santa will be there to hear your wish list for the holidays. Bring an unwrapped, new toy for Children's Hospital and receive a free picture with Santa!
Celebrate Thanksgiving a couple days early at the Allways Lounge (2240 St. Claude) with the All-Star Covered-Dish Country Jamboree starting at 9:00 pm. First up is some sincere afro-polka music with the band Passion, Peace and Perserverence. Next is Buffalo Death Rattle, a bunch of good lookin' fellas from the Lower Ninth with what they describe as Ol-Timey power violence-boot-stompin good times! Last but not least it's local Honky-Tonk Legends, The Wasted Lives, bringing you up when yer feelin those low-down country blues! Bring a dish to pass, something to auction off with Jeff Boston, and a joke to tell - See you there!
The Trinity Artist Series continues tonight at Trinity Episcopal Church (1329 Jackson Ave.) with "Organ & Labyrinth" with Albinas Prizgintas on the 5000 pipe Trinity tracker organ. The program includes some of the greatest music ever written ranging from Classical Baroque to vintage rock and popular tunes. The concert is from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm and it's FREE!

It's gonna be a beautiful evening to hang out at the The Columns (3811 St. Charles Ave.)...Have a cocktail and listen to the duo of John Rankin plus reedman Ray Moore at 8:00 pm!
There's some fun on Frenchmen tonight over at d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen) with the Treme Brass Band at 9:00 pm - there's a $5 cover, but this show is definitely worth the dinero!
Right down the street the Spotted Cat (623 Frenchmen) has a triple header with no cover - Brett Richardson at 4:00 pm, Smokin' Time Jazz Club at 6:00 pm and top off the evening with Meschiya Lake & The Little Big Horns at 10:00 pm!
End your night over at the Maple Leaf Bar on Oak Street...with the REBIRTH Brass Band they come on around 10:30ish - there's a cover, but you'll be glad you paid and stayed up late!!
