Jazz Fest Tips – Take time to check out the amazing indigenous art in the Folk Crafts Area. When you have nothing on your music schedule, go to the Fais Do Do Stage. When you need to get out of the sun and sit down a minute, hit the Gospel Tent, although not sure how long you will be able to stay in your seat. And number one tip is to master the “walk by”; face it, there is too much truly fabulous music, so “walk by” and check out an act for 10 minutes or so as you make your way to another mind-blowing destination. Everyone have a great day and enjoy the world’s greatest music and heritage festival!
Jazz Fest Picks - If you just don’t know where to find the energy to make it on Day 7, plenty of great stuff in the The Blues Tent… where there are chairs. Mem Shannon & the Membership (11:25 Blues) – Great storytelling funky blues. Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band (12:45 Blues) – Ain’t no party like a Chubby party. Feufollet (1:35 Fais Do Do) – Bridging the traditional to Contemporary Cajun gap, and a great girl singer. Tabou Combo (1:40 Congo) – Today’s Haitian selection. Henry Butler (2:00 Blues) – Great piano and vocals from former New Orleanian. Bluerunners (2:50 Fais Do Do) – Reunion of ‘80s pop-cajun band. Rebirth Brass Band (3:25 Congo) – Quintessential contemporary brass band. Sonny Landreth (3:30 Blues) – Louisiana master of the slide guitar. Neville Brothers (5:40 Acura) – Who else would you close out Jazz Fest with. Bobby Lounge (6:00 Lagniappe) – Tough time slot, but you have to see this guy to believe him.
