Free Friday Concerts

It's the annual Good Friday Celebration at Magnolia Food Cooperative and Market (2132 Simon Bolivar) today at 4:30 pm...Join the community renewal and gospel concert featuring Jo "Cool" Davis, Cordell Chambliss and many others and it's FREE!

It's Jazz "Informance" at New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park Visitor Center (916 N. Peters St.)....John Royen and Barry Martyn perform and discuss New Orleans jazz this afternoon from 2:00 to 3:30  p.m.

Wine Tastings

This is always a fun way to start off the weekend.  It's the weekly wine tasting over at Cork & Bottle (Orleans at Moss St.)... Come taste six great, affordable bottles today at the FREE tasting from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

And you can double your wine tasting fun!  Check out Swirl located on Ponce de Leon right off Esplanade and enjoy a FREE wine tasting at 6:00 pm.  It's a "Good" Friday Free For All.....Join Darla from Mystic Vines for four great picks from California and local author Ian McNulty will join the Free Friday festivities for a signing of his latest book, "Louisiana Rambles: Exploring America’s Cajun and Creole Heartland".

Friday Music Picks!

Head on over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for a Threadhead party with Paul Sanchez at 8:00 pm.and stay on for the Geraniums at 10:00 pm....Don't forget to come hungry cause they got yummy food going on in the kitchen with.....Taceaux Loceaux!!  (there's a cover over here, but the music is worth it!!)

d.b.a. (618 Frenchmen) has a great double header tonight.....Tuba Skinny at6:00 pm (no cover!)....and stay on for the The Elastic Waste Band - featuring members of Morphine at 10:00 pm for a very low low cover...it's gonna be a good one!!!

Head on down the street from d.b.a. to Check Point Charlie's (501 Esplanade) tonight....They've got Woodenhead tonight...the band features Jimmy Robinson and is a combination of it all...rock, classical and jazz...you don't want to miss this show!!

If you're hanging Uptown...be sure to go on over to Le Bon Temps Roule' (4801 Magazine)...There's an early show at 7:00 pm with Tom Worrell, and be sure to come back and put your dancing shoes on for Los Po-boy-Citos at 11:00 pm...they're worth stayin' up late for!!!
