Happy New Years Eve!!
As I hear the rain falling outside my window...I'm guessing tonight might be a better night to find indoor activities...but hey, it's gonna be warm so you can put on that rain gear and brave the rain!
So what's happenin' this evening!!
Celebrate New Years early with the kiddies it's the Louisiana Children's Museum (420 Julia) New Year's Eve Kids' Countdown today from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.!!! Celebrate the New Year with your loved ones, Sesame Street's The Count and Wendy from Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers! Participate in a balloon release and a confetti drop at noon. Plus, enjoy lots of fun activities and a live musical performance from David Ludman and the Noontime Revelers from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Cost is $2 per member and $8 per non-member in advance or $10 at the door for non-members.
The celebration includes:
- A balloon release and confetti toss at noon with the Count
- Design a festive paper bag party hat
- Learn how to say "Happy New Year" in different languages
- Build the Empire State Building with blocks
- Create a noisemaker and more!
It's Noon Year's Eve at the Audubon Zoo!! Dance the day away with Radio Disney AM 1450 at Audubon Zoo's for a Disney's Dance Party featuring games for kids! There will be rockin' dance music, party hats, and kids can make their own noisemakers! Count down the seconds and toast the New Year at the stroke of noon with a non-alcoholic drink courtesy of Pepsi and sing Auld Lang Syne! Appearances by Hornets Basketball team mascot Hugo, along with the Stingers and the Honeybees. All day long, register to win 4 Disneyworld Park Hopper Passes!

Start off your evening early with a GLEEFUL concert at the Trinity Artist Series (1329 Jackson Ave.) tonight at 7:00 pm!! FREE of charge....It's the the Yale Whiffenpoofs (14 of them). As one of the nation's oldest and most acclaimed collegiate a cappella groups the Whiffenpoofs have, during their 101 years of existence, sung all over the world. They have a long tradition of performing a selection of traditional male glee club type songs along with a very healthy mix of contemporary a cappella songs.
Head on down to the Quarter tonight for a big FREE NEW YEAR'S EVE CELEBRATION at Jax Brewery....don't let the weather man get you down. This year's festivities will begin at 9:00 p.m. with a performance by Big Sam's Funky Nation, followed by Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience. James Andrews and the Crescent City Allstars will close out the music lineup, leading up to the New Year's Countdown to be led by Mayor Landrieu. The celebration is free and open to the public. The annual celebration will once again include the "fleur de lis drop" from a 25 foot pole atop the Jax Brewery Condominiums as midnight nears, followed by a fireworks display staged from the Mississippi River and choreographed to New Orleans music.
