Happy New Years Eve!!
As I hear the rain falling outside my window...I'm guessing tonight might be a better night to find indoor activities...but hey, it's gonna be warm so you can put on that rain gear and brave the rain!
So what's happenin' this evening!!
Celebrate New Years early with the kiddies it's the Louisiana Children's Museum (420 Julia) New Year's Eve Kids' Countdown today from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.!!! Celebrate the New Year with your loved ones, Sesame Street's The Count and Wendy from Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers! Participate in a balloon release and a confetti drop at noon. Plus, enjoy lots of fun activities and a live musical performance from David Ludman and the Noontime Revelers from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Cost is $2 per member and $8 per non-member in advance or $10 at the door for non-members.
The celebration includes:
- A balloon release and confetti toss at noon with the Count
- Design a festive paper bag party hat
- Learn how to say "Happy New Year" in different languages
- Build the Empire State Building with blocks
- Create a noisemaker and more!
It's Noon Year's Eve at the Audubon Zoo!! Dance the day away with Radio Disney AM 1450 at Audubon Zoo's for a Disney's Dance Party featuring games for kids! There will be rockin' dance music, party hats, and kids can make their own noisemakers! Count down the seconds and toast the New Year at the stroke of noon with a non-alcoholic drink courtesy of Pepsi and sing Auld Lang Syne! Appearances by Hornets Basketball team mascot Hugo, along with the Stingers and the Honeybees. All day long, register to win 4 Disneyworld Park Hopper Passes!

Start off your evening early with a GLEEFUL concert at the Trinity Artist Series (1329 Jackson Ave.) tonight at 7:00 pm!! FREE of charge....It's the the Yale Whiffenpoofs (14 of them). As one of the nation's oldest and most acclaimed collegiate a cappella groups the Whiffenpoofs have, during their 101 years of existence, sung all over the world. They have a long tradition of performing a selection of traditional male glee club type songs along with a very healthy mix of contemporary a cappella songs.
Head on down to the Quarter tonight for a big FREE NEW YEAR'S EVE CELEBRATION at Jax Brewery....don't let the weather man get you down. This year's festivities will begin at 9:00 p.m. with a performance by Big Sam's Funky Nation, followed by Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience. James Andrews and the Crescent City Allstars will close out the music lineup, leading up to the New Year's Countdown to be led by Mayor Landrieu. The celebration is free and open to the public. The annual celebration will once again include the "fleur de lis drop" from a 25 foot pole atop the Jax Brewery Condominiums as midnight nears, followed by a fireworks display staged from the Mississippi River and choreographed to New Orleans music. Celebrate the end of the year with some loads of fun things going on!!
You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch! Taceaux Loceaux will be at the Market today doing the Green Plate Special. Two new soups and Mexican Hot Chocolate. Perfect for a chilly day like today. iBuen provecho!

It's gonna be a lovely evening to hang out on the porch at The Columns (3811 St. Charles Ave.)...Have a cocktail and listen to the musical stylings of John Rankin & Friends and watch the streetcars go by!
For more music fun....come on down to Chickie Wah Wah on Canal Street to enjoy the amazing John Mooney!! Music starts about 8:00 pm, but come out early for happy hour starting up at 4:00 pm with $1.00 off drinks and the kitchen opens up at 5:00 pm too!!

Second Line for Earl Wheeler Tonight
It's Wednesday December 22nd....
Pat O'Brien's bartender Earl Wheeler will be honored with a Second Line Parade this evening.....Earl Wheeler, would have celebrated his 22nd birthday today and due to his tragic murder, he will be not be there in person to celebrate, but he will be in spirit. Pat O'Brien's Bar, friends and family will pay homage to their beloved friend and co worker with a traditional New Orleans second line parade with a band and Mardi Gras Indians. The parade will begin at 6:00 pm at Pat O' Brien's 718 St. Peter Street go down Royal, right on Toulouse then end up at Pat o's Courtyard Restaurant 624 Bourbon Street. Everyone is welcome to join his friends and family as the celebration of Earl Wheeler's life and all the happiness he brought to other people will continue in the Bourbon Bar.

Start off your evening enjoying Christmas with the Boutte Family and Treme Community Choir tonight from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm at St. Anna's Episcopal Church (1313 Esplanade Ave.).....Mass at 6:00 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:15 p.m. John, Lilian, and the whole Boutte Family will sing make sure to stay for the 8:15 gift giveaway for selected families in need....then more music!!

Wine, Christmas Fun and a Tribute to James Booker!
Morning Everybody...It's Friday and the countdown to Christmas is on!!
There's a Miracle On Fulton Street (Fulton and Poydras) it's free and open to the public! Come see the Canopy of Lights ~ A series of 14-foot, custom-built, faux wrought iron arches, 8-foot Christmas trees and 3-foot fleur de lis ornaments!....And there's also "Faux Sneaux" which falls daily! Tonight check out entertainment by The Wiseguys from 8:00 pm to 10:00pm!! And don't forget about Santa and his "real" reindeer too! All the holiday fun runs thru January 2nd!
And what a perfect night to visit Celebration in the Oaks at City Park there's so much to do!!
*Visit the Park's Carousel Gardens with rides including the century-old Antique Carousel, Miniature Train, Live Oak Ladybug Roller Coaster, Coney Tower, Fun Slide, Bumper Cars, Rockin' Tug, the Scrambler, and Tilt-A-Whirl. Kid's rides include the Red Baron Plane Ride, Umbrella Cars, Monkey Jump, Slime Buckets and Construction Zone. Ride bands for unlimited rides are available for $15/person/night. Christmas Time is Here with Art, Auctions and Opera!
Happy Wednesday, it's time to get in the spirit of the season...and with all this fun stuff to do it won't be hard!

The New Orleans Bayou Steppers Social Aid and Pleasure Club invites you to their Holiday Celebration of the Youth Music Clinics, featuring holiday songs with Ms. Margie Perez, Youth Music Clinic leader Shamarr Allen, and the Youth Music Clinic participants...Tonight at the Sound Cafe' (2700 Chartres). Clinic begins at 5:30 and music starts up at 6:30! This holiday celebration is free and open to the public. Food and libations will be available with the great music!! The festival is today at the Jazz & Heritage Center (1255 N. Rampart), and the fest also includes fabulous holiday shopping at the fifth annual Jazz & Heritage Holiday Bazaar - with a slew of vendors offering wearable art, items for the home and other hand-made specialties.

Enjoy the talents of Phyllis Treigle, Melissa Brocato, Kevin Rouchell, Louis Hackett, Brian Morgan and the Good Shepherd Parish Choir. OUR LADY OF GOOD COUNSEL CHURCH has been unable to present their traditional Christmas Concert in the church since being "closed" by the Archdiocese of New Orleans in October 2008.
ALL DONATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AND GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Christmas Cheer is Overflowing in NOLA!

There's some fun for you at Holiday on the Boulevard at the Ashe Cultural Center (1724 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.). Head down a little early for a Kwanzaa Ceremony with Mama YĂ©YĂ© and Imagination Tour (dance & drum workshop) with Bamboula 2000 at 10:00 am, and check out the Community Reception & Open House with Music by Bamboula 2000 at 6:00 pm!
There's a Miracle On Fulton Street (Fulton and Poydras) it's free and open to the public! Come see the Canopy of Lights ~ A series of 14-foot, custom-built, faux wrought iron arches, 8-foot Christmas trees and 3-foot fleur de lis ornaments!....And there's also "Faux Sneaux" which falls daily! Tonight check out entertainment by The Wiseguys from 8:00 pm to 10:00pm!! And don't forget about Santa and his "real" reindeer too! All the holiday fun runs thru January 2nd!
And what a perfect night to visit Celebration in the Oaks at City Park there's so much to do!!
*Visit the Park's Carousel Gardens with rides including the century-old Antique Carousel, Miniature Train, Live Oak Ladybug Roller Coaster, Coney Tower, Fun Slide, Bumper Cars, Rockin' Tug, the Scrambler, and Tilt-A-Whirl. Celebrate the Holidays on Bourbon Street with a FREE operatic performance by vocalists from "Bon Operatit" at The Inn On Bourbon's Puccini Bar (541 Bourbon) tonight at 7:00 pm! Celebrate the Holidays on Bourbon Street with a FREE operatic performance by vocalists from "Bon Operatit" at The Inn On Bourbon's Puccini Bar (541 Bourbon) tonight at 7:00 pm! The Inn On Bourbon is located at the site of the French Opera House (1859-1919) and continues to celebrate its history with the live performance series. The operatic performances by vocalists from the New Orleans Opera Association and Bon Operatit will occur on different days, twice monthly, at the Inn On Bourbon. Special $5 parking at The Inn On Bourbon is extended to all guests attending the performances.
Head on over to the New Orleans Museum of Art and meet famous restraunteer Ralph Brennan who will be signing his latest book, "New Orleans Seafood Cookbook" and offering free tastings of sesame seared tuna from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm....This lush 432-page volume compiled by Ralph Brennan, his five executive chefs, and a dream team of Louisiana talent in editor Gene Bourg and photographer Kerri McCaffety includes 170 triple-tested recipes, 143 color photographs, a Seafood Cook's Manual, seafood and wine pairing suggestions....and there's even more at NOMA....While you're there be sure to check out Great Collectors - Great Donors a Collectors Panel at Stern Auditorium. Director Emeritus John Bullard will host a panel discussion with several of the collectors whose donations have formed the foundation of NOMA's permanent collection over the past 100 years. Both events are FREE and open to the public!

Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch! Taceaux Loceaux will be at the Market today doing the Green Plate Special. Two new soups and Mexican Hot Chocolate. Perfect for a chilly day like today. iBuen provecho!

Concerts at the Cathedral and Mo' Monday Fun!!

Christmas New Orleans Style sets in to gear today with theCathedral Christmas Concerts from December 1-23 at the St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square!! Local choirs and New Orleans artists herald in the season with nightly concerts of Christmas carols and gospel favorites in one of the country's most historic churches. Concerts start at 6pm and last about one hour. FREE and open to the public.

The series is made possible by the New Orleans Lyceum, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to adult learning. A discussion will follow the movie and will be facilitated by Lyceum founder David O'Donaghue, Psy.D. For more information, call David O'Donaghue at 504.473.7194 or email neworleanslyceumgmail.com.
And of course there's lot o' music happenin!!
Head over to Chickie Wah Wah (2828 Canal) for an amazing evening of music with Spencer Bohren at 7:00 pm...if you've never heard this amazing singer/songwriter you don't know what you're missing....you have to check it out!!
Stick around Mid-City and go on over to the Banks Street Bar & Grill for the N'Awlins Johnnys at 9:00 pm and some free red beans and rice for your Monday night!
