It's a Coats for Kids Benefit Concert tonight at the St. Louis Cathedral at 7:30 pm..... The Faubourg Quartet presents a collection of its members' most beloved favorites, a fun and eclectic mix of varied genres, including tango, blues, jazz (composition by New Orleans native son, Wynton Marsalis), as well as some of the most beautiful works of Schumann, Mendelssohn, and Dvorak. And as a special treat, you will not want to miss Jeremy Davenport, as he joins the Faubourg Quartet in their finale, Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World"! Admission is free, but please bring a coat for a needy child.

Wine, Fringe Festin' & Lots O'Music!
What a gorgeous Wednesday!!
If you like wine.......Sip the bubbly at the Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots (1751 Gentilly Blvd - 4th Floor Clubhouse) from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm tonight!!! The event's theme is "All That Sparkles"....featuring more than 50 sensational champagnes and sparkling wines along with cheeses and wine experts, who will discuss and answer wine-related questions. Held in partnership with Dorignac's Food Center, the tasting will showcase 25 top wines for $25.00 per person. Tickets are available at Dorignac's (710 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie) and, if not sold out, will be available at the door.

Fresh Veggies Today and Beer Tappin' Tonight!!
Happy Tuesday Everybody,
You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch! 1st of the season satsumas from A&K Citrus, shelled pecans from Inglewood Farm, Timmy Perilloux is back with greens galore and one of our favorite Bywater breakfast spots, Satsuma, is under the GPS tent!!
Head on over to Gordon Biersch (Harrah's Casino) between 5:30 and 7:30 pm to celebrate the Winterbock Tapping Party!! There's gonna be tasty Winterbock for great prices, gratis appetizers and I even heard a rumor about karaoke!!!
It's more amazing music from the Trinity Artist Series at Trinity Episcopal Church (1329 Jackson Ave.) Tonight experience the Organ & Labyrinth featuring Albinas Prizgintas...it promises to be a wonderful evening of music! (Concert is free, but donations of $10 are appreciated.)

Nutria-Palooza Friday!!!

Get your wine on this evening with a little tasting at Swirl (3143 Ponce de Leon) tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 pm....Join Nick Selby from Uncorked for a tasting of 4 wines from Southern France plus Cheese, charcuterie and tapas plates are available from $5-$12!!!
There's good stuff happenin' over in Gretna....where there's some great music and fun this evening! It's Gretna's Rockin' on the River Concert Series from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm with Amanda Shaw! Head on over to the River Front Amphitheater on Huey P Long Avenue at the intersection of First Street!!

Righteous Fur is on a save-the-wetlands mission to bring nutria fur back to the runway....Beneath the spectacular vaulted 19th-century ceilings of the Ogden's historic Patrick F. Taylor Library, Nutria-palooza! will showcase a fabulous array of fashions made from the byproducts of the state’s Coastwide Nutria Control Program (CNCP), which pays $5 a tail for captured nutria. Admission is $10 for Ogden Museum members; $15 non museum members. Five percent of the evening’s proceeds go to the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary Foundation, which is working to restore the coast.

Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch! 1st of the season satsumas from A&K Citrus, shelled pecans from Inglewood Farm, Timmy Perilloux is back with greens galore and one of our favorite Bywater breakfast spots, Satsuma, is under the GPS tent!!
Head on over to Cork & Bottle/Clever Lounge (3700 Orleans Ave. in American Can Company) to celebrate!! They've got a new owner, so to celebrate this "passing of the bottle" they'll be opening LOTS of bottles. Join the fun for wine, spirit and brew tastings and hors d'oeuvres by Vega Tapas Cafe!!!

One Mo' Harvest, Rock N' Bowl Celebrates 22 and Much More!!

It's the last concert for the 2010 HARVEST THE MUSIC CONCERT SERIES with only TWO concerts left!!! The free concert series benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans & Acadiana....is every WEDNESDAY from September 15-November 3 from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at LAFAYETTE SQUARE!! It's the last concert for the 2010 HARVEST THE MUSIC CONCERT SERIES with only TWO concerts left!!! The free concert series benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans & Acadiana....is every WEDNESDAY from September 15-November 3 from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at LAFAYETTE SQUARE!! In addition to a free, weekly concert, concert-goers will enjoy food and drinks for purchase (no outside food or drinks, please) from local favorites including: Rouses, Beaucoup Juice Snoballs, Crepes a la Cart, Miss Linda's Soul Food Catering, Lil Dizzy's Café, Lucy's Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant, Oceana Restaurant, Boucherie, and Squeal. An artists' village will feature artwork and crafts from regional artists and designers, all available for purchase.

Happy Tuesday!!
Happy Tuesday Everybody,
Don't let the rain get you down....there's lots of good stuff going on today!!
You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch! 1st of the season satsumas from A&K Citrus, shelled pecans from Inglewood Farm, Timmy Perilloux is back with greens galore and one of our favorite Bywater breakfast spots, Satsuma, is under the GPS tent!!
This evening there's lot of fun stuff going on....
It's gonna be a lovely evening to hang out on the porch at The Columns (3811 St. Charles Ave.)...Have a cocktail and listen to the musical stylings of John Rankin & Friends and watch the streetcars go by!
For more music fun....come on down to Chickie Wah Wah on Canal Street to enjoy The New Orleans Nightcrawlers!! Music starts about 8:00 pm and if you've never seen the Nightcrawlers you really need to go!! Come by early and get some yummy food before the show!

Remember Those Who Have Passed Before Us....

Start: D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 1716 N. Claiborne Ave. Out Claiborne to St. Anthony. Right on St. Anthony to N. Robertson to St. Bernard Ave. Right on St. Bernard Ave. to N. Claiborne Ave. Left on St. Philip.
Stop: Charbonnet Family Services, 1615 St. Philip. Proceed down St. Philip to Treme St. Left on Treme to Barracks St. Right on Barracks to Little People's Place.
Stop: Little People's Place. Proceed down Barracks to N. Rampart St. Right on N. Rampart to Ursulines St. Right on Ursulines to St. Claude Avenue. Right on St. Claude.
Disband: Backstreet Cultural Museum, 1116 St. Claude Ave. Presentation and Refreshments. This second line honors Honoring Al Morris, Chief of the Northside Skull & Bone Gang, 1942-2010 and Ernest Skipper, creator of "Shot Gun Joe," 1948-2009.
