Woody Ruiz is back at the market this Tuesday with his highly craveable fish tacos. For more music fun....come on down to Chickie Wah Wah on Canal Street to enjoy the amazing John Mooney plus the Geraniums!! Music starts about 8:00 pm, but come early to get a good seat.
You can also head on over to Bullet's Sports Bar (2441 AP Tureaud) at about 8:30ish and get down to the sounds of Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ Swingers...there's really no better place to spend your Tuesday night and have a few drinks to celebrate!

A Tribute to Lionel Ferbos and More!!
Happy Tuesday Everybody,
Lots of good stuff going on today!!
You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch! Woody Ruiz is back at the market this Tuesday with his highly craveable fish tacos. While Woody won't divulge all of his secrets, the fact that he uses the absolute freshest locally-caught fish has to have something to do with how delicious his tacos are - that and whatever he puts in his creamy, spicy slaw. Woody will dish up fish, pork and veggie tacos, all with an optional side of vegan beans and Cajun Grain brown rice, along with another tasty market-inspired vegetarian dish.....now that sounds delicious!
This evening there's lot of fun stuff going on....
Get your happy hour going at Le Booze (300 Bourbon Street) this evening from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm for Happy Hour Toasting with Margarita.....cool off with some refreshing cocktails with Margarita and her co-hosts Becky Allen and Jim Walpole!!!
Tonight it's a Salute to Jazz Legend Lionel Ferbos....A New Orleans treasure, jazz trumpeter Lionel Ferbos started in the early 1920s around the time Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton burst onto the national scene. A hard worker and determined musician, Ferbos sharpened his skills under the guidance of world-renowned teacher, Paul Chalingny. The young Ferbos was a rising star during the 1930s and played with the likes of Walter "Fats" Pichon and Sidney Desvigne. Ferbos later joined the legendary New Orleans Ragtime Orchestra in the late 1960s with musicians William Russell, Paul Crawford, Orange Kellin, John Robichaux, Walter Payton and band founder Lars Edegran.
The Historic New Orleans Collection and Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse at the Royal Sonesta Hotel will celebrate the remarkable history of this living jazz legend with two French Quarter events. "A Conversation with Lionel Ferbos" will be presented from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the Williams Research Center, located at 410 Chartres Street. The interview will be conducted by Jason Berry, author of Up From the Cradle of Jazz. The WRC is home to several notable jazz collections including the William Russell Jazz Collection, the Frederic Ramsey Jr. Papers and the Harold Battiste Papers. This event provides jazz lovers with an opportunity to hear Ferbos recount his fascinating life in his own words. Reservations for the lecture are highly recommended. Please call (504) 523-4662 or email wrc@hnoc.org.
Then.....At 8 p.m., immediately following the oral presentation, guests are invited to Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse, at 300 Bourbon Street, for a musical "Tribute to Lionel Ferbos." The concert will feature Jason Marsalis with trumpeters Irvin Mayfield, Shamarr Allen and other special guests. Both the concert and the oral presentation are free and open to the public. Don't miss this rare opportunity to be a part of history!!
For more music fun....come on down to Chickie Wah Wah on Canal Street to enjoy the amazing John Mooney!!
If you're lookin' for some Rockin' and Bowlin' and some good food too...Have some dinner over at Ye Olde College Inn..where you'll get some yummy food and a discounted ticket to Rock 'N Bowl...right next door!! It's Bo Dollis Jr. and the Wild Magnolias tonight...and the show gets kickin' about 8:30 pm.
You need to go by the Maple Leaf Bar on Oak Street for the early show. Cluck! Nite featuring Three Piece Spicy + Creole Cookin' ...and make sure you stay up late for the REBIRTH!! You'll be glad did!
Have a wonderful Tuesday and for more fun shows and events going on click on the WWOZ Livewire link!
