Off to a bit of a late start this morning, but here's some fun to get your day going!
It's the Palmer Park Arts Market today from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm....This monthly open air festival of creativity hosted by the Arts Council of New Orleans featuring the 3rd annual Haitian Art Expo with the best local artists, live music, and good food. In the Kids Tent at 10:30 am- Deep South All Breed Obedience Training Club will have a Dog Show; afterwards the Craft Project of the Day will be Hound Headgear! In the Music Tent, The Kat Walker Jazz Combo will perform at 1:00 pm, followed by Lips & the Trips at 2:30 pm. Go out there and by some art!
For some music in the afternoon...make sure you by the Louisiana Music Factory (2nd block of Decatur off Canal) for some in store music concerts!! Here's the excellent line-up this Saturday....Louisiana Music Factory Dan Rivers 2:00 pm, Meschiya Lake 3:00 pm, and Roddie Romero and the Hub City All-Stars 4:00 pm!!!

Tonight it's Burlesque for the Bayou from 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm at the Howlin Wolf (907 South Peters)....Burly-Q for the Bayou will be a great night of burlesque performances, music, prizes, an escape artist, and more! Music by The UnNaturals and We are the Pretenders... Burlesque by Foxy Flambeaux, Bella Blue, Dorian Faust & Roulette Rose... escape performance by VeVe Laroux. Another wonderful benefit tonight is at Generations Hall.....The Greater New Orleans Entertainment Foundation is proud to present their 2nd annual gala, NOLA Rocks! Entertainment will include music by Bag of Donuts, Five Finger Discount, The Molly Ringwalds, Kyle Turley, Fleur de Lis, Vieux Carre, Band Camp, Black Magnolia, Michael Baptiste, Sugar Lee, Al "Carnival Time" Johnson, The Mystics, Hot Ticket, Naydja Cojoe, Cyril Neville, Kermit Ruffins, Ceasar Elloie, and many special guests performers.
The GNOEF is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise money to provide musical instruments and education for tomorrow's musicians and entertainers. You can kick off your weekend with the Marketplace at Armstrong Park today from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.....featuring local fresh produce, seafood, arts and crafts and bring your dancing shoes cause there's gonna be music too!!!
You can also get your evening started off right with a little wine tasting at Swirl (3143 Ponce de Leon) with the Friday Free for All from 6 to 8:00 pm. Jared Breaux of International Wine and Spirits joins Swirl for 4 new wines from France and Spain.....And of course Chef Dan Esses will be dishing out his delicious $5 tapas plates!
It's a Threadhead Friday night at Chickie Wah Wah with Paul Sanchez at 8:00 pm for a super fun evening! And I know there's gonna be some yummy food too!!
If you're thinking about heading down to Frenchmen Street...there's lot of music to hear!
d.b.a.'s (618 Frenchmen) has two bands tonight that will get you up and dancing...you got the The Hot Club of New Orleans (with no cover - but please tip the band :) at 6:00 and stay on for Mike Dillon's Go Go Jungle at 10:00 pm!

Don't miss out on the weekly wine tasting at Cork and Bottle about 5:00 pm in Mid-City......and be sure to stop by the Crescent City Farmer's Market and patronize local Louisiana vendors with fresh veggies, seafood and more!
It's a big show at the Ogden this evening!! The Ogden Southern Museum of Art better known as Ogden after Hours starts up at 6:00 pm where Jazz vocalist Cindy Scott will be joined by Brian Seeger, Jared Schonig and Dan Loomis to perform jazz mixed in with New Orleans grooves, as well as the sounds of World, funk and American roots. So come on down for some music, culture, fun and the "O" bar will be serving some yummy margaritas!! (remember if you get down there early - go grab a cocktail at the Circle Bar on Lee's Circle...one of the best happy hours in town!)
You can also go hang out at City Park this evening for The Thursdays at Twilight Garden Concert Series with Kat Walker Jazz Combo! The gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out..so....it's a good thing...$8 for adults and $3 for children.

Tapas, Wine, Music and Baseball!
Hey Everybody,
There is mucho stuff going on for a Wednesday night...so check it out!!
Get your wine on this evening with Tastings at the Track "Chill Out! Light and Lively Summertime Sippers" at the New Orleans Fairgrounds from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.....Featuring more than two dozen refreshing summertime wines crafted by top producers from around the world. Selections will include lively varietals such as pinot grigio, sauvignon blanc and riesling, dry rosés, sparkling wines and light reds including pinot noir and chianti, among others. Held in partnership with Doriganc's Food center, the tasting will showcase 25 top wines for $25.00 per person. Ticekts are available at Dorignac's (710 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie) and, if not sold out, will be available at the door...This is always a fun event..don't miss out!
It's another Wednesday on the Point from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., and of course, admission is FREE..Take the ferry right over to the concert tonight and head to the Dry Dock Cafe and Vine & Dine (100 Delaronde) for Captain Josh Tribute to Jimmy Buffet to celebrate Margarita Wednesday! And it's New Orleans Inaugural Riverbend Tapas Crawl from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Chef Laurentino of Barcelona Tapas is organizing the event to demonstrate a tradition of his home country and to promote the dense cluster of Riverbend restaurants he joined this spring after relocating his restaurant, formerly called Laurentino's from Metairie. Along with Barcelona Tapas, participating restaurants include Brigtsen's Restaurant (723 Dante St.), Dante's Kitchen (736 Dante St.), One Restaurant & Lounge (8132 Hampson St.), and Sara's Restaurant (724 Dublin St.), all of which are located within two blocks of each other. For the Crawl, you'll find the same format at each stop: Order at the bar, or at another specified area, hand over $5 and you get a tapa-sized dish...plus a short glass of wine. Bring cash to keep it simple...There's no itinerary, so diners are encouraged to wander from place to place...Hoping this inaugural event will be the start to tapas tradition in NOLA!!

And if you want to head out to the ballpark.....It's Cheers for Volunteers United Way Kick-Off at Zephyr Stadium (6000 Airline Drive)....Admission to the Zephyrs-Memphis Redbirds game is only $1. Events include free autographed second-line handkerchiefs for the first 1,000 fans, a drawing for a new car, $1 hot dogs all night. Jeremy Davenport plays the national anthem at 6:55 p.m. and the game begins at 7:00 pm; (gates open at 6:00 p.m.) For dollar game admission, visit www.unitedwaynola.org and print out the special coupon.

Drink Some Wine and Help Save the Wetlands!

Here's some fun stuff going on this hot Tuesday!
You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch...be sure to check out the green plate special from Surrey's Cafe & Juice Bar and La Playa..check out the menu: sopa de vida (gazpacho with fresh Lake Salvador jumbo lump crab, sopa de aguacate (cold avocado and yogurt soup), shrimp ceviche with tomatoes and chiles, puerco en adobo soft tacos, pollo con salsa rojas soft tacos, veggie tacos with portobello mushrooms, onions, red and yellow bell peppers, zucchini and crook neck squash, and for the hungriest market shoppers, a plate lunch- choice of two tacos (all available in corn or flour tortillas) with black beans, Mexican rice, guacamole and chips..now that sounds delicious!!

Sponsored by Coastal Shoring, 100% of the proceeds generated by the sales of “Coastal Paradise” will be donated to the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation’s Save Our Coast program to assist in coastal restoration. In addition, local winemaker James Moises of Moises Wines, will showcase a selection of artisan wines, including Mystic Wines from Oregon, which will be making their debut in the New Orleans area for a special price of $5 per glass on each of the featured selections. Swirl will donate a portion of the proceeds of each bottle of wine sold from James' portfolio this evening to the Save our Coast program as well.
Get your happy hour going at Le Booze (300 Bourbon Street) this evening from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm for Happy Hour Toasting with Margarita and burlesque aficionado Trixie Minx!! Come and enjoy Happy Hour drinks prepared by the wonderful bartenders of Le Booze in the Royal Sonesta Hotel under the guidance of Margarita Bergen!!

Happy Monday!
Happy Monday Everybody!
Hope everyone had an excellent weekend, and was able to attend one of the many amazing Tales of the Cocktail events...Let's see what's going on this fine Monday!
There's a fun double header over at Maison (508 Frenchmen)...You got Jayna Morgan and The Sazerac Sunrise Jazz Band at 7:00 pm, and the Monday Night Super Jam hosted by Gene Harding at 10:00 pm...now this sounds like a fun way to spend your evening!!

We will take you on a journey from village to village and through time with samplings of Mezcals of different varietals, ages, and productions. Cocktails will celebrate Mezcal’s new place on the map of the cocktail world.

The Viridian Spirits Jade Absinthe Release Party at The Polo Club Lounge at the Windsor Court Hotel.....The Polo Club Lounge at the Windsor Court Hotel, partnering with Viridian Spirits, will host the U.S. launch of Jade Absinthes today from 4:30-6:30 pm. This event will be complimentary and open to the public, and will feature the complete Jade absinthe portfolio, served traditionally and in classic absinthe cocktails.
Master absinthe distiller and creator of Jade Absinthes, Ted Breaux, will be on hand to answer questions and provide tips on how best to enjoy the notorious "Green Fairy." Previously unavailable within the U.S., the Jade Absinthes represent Breaux's master craftsmanship and are world renowned for their historical accuracy and authenticity. Weekend Fun - More Tales, Henry's & Island Aid!!
Okay everybody, I'm going to have limited access to my computer today.....but there's loads of fun going on and I don't want you to miss it!!....Be sure to check out the daily Tales Tasting Room schedule at Tales of the Cocktail (this may be causing my computer problems)!!...there is great free stuff going on daily through Sunday!!
Also, do not forget about the big Henry's Bar (5101 Magazine) 110th Anniversary Block Party celebration going on Saturday early Saturday afternoon through the evening...this should not be missed. Come celebrate 110 years of Henry's Uptown Bar! Admission is free. There will be three bands on an outside stage: 3rd Line Brass Band, John Lisi and Deltafunk, and Weathered! Music from Henry's famous jukebox will be played in between bands. Cochon de Lait and Jambalaya will be available for purchase. So stop by for a little bit or stay all day. This will be the party of the century with a few hundred of your closest Henry's friends!!
And of course...you have to head on down to Grand Isle on Saturday for the big benefit concert!!!!

The gospel healing Mass and medical services for musicians take place at 6:30 pm.....Dinner and resources are free for musicians (suggested donation $10)....All proceeds benefit the Mission to Musicians Fund!

You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch...be sure to check out the Green Plate Special!!!
And in case you haven't heard about the BIG event going on this week....You better check out the Tales of the Cocktail website for all the fun going on!!! And be sure to click on the Tasting Room info where there are loads of free tastings going on from Wednesday thru Sunday....from absinthe to vodka - any kind of liquor and cocktails you can dream up will be offered!!! The event kicks off tomorrow with a big opening celebration at the Hotel Monteleone front steps at 2:00 pm!!

Monday Night Burlesque and Music!
Happy Monday Everybody!
Hope everybody had an excellent weekend...what's going on tonight??
There's a fun double header over at Maison (508 Frenchmen)...You got The Sazerac Sunrise Jazz Band at 7:00 pm, and the Monday Night Super Jam hosted by Gene Harding at 10:00 pm...now this sounds like a fun way to spend your evening!!
It's another HOT Monday, but there's a great breeze from the river today...so it's a good night to take a stroll along the River Road levee, and while you're there be sure to stop at the River Shack Tavern at 7:00 pm for some really GOOD red beans and rice, and the cool sounds of Amanda Walker.

Waiters Racing, Sunday Jammin' and Creepy Festin'!!
Happy Sunday Everybody....Enjoy the last day of your weekend...and start preparing for the Tales of the Cocktail which kicks off this Wednesday!!
THE FIRST ANNUAL FRENCH MARKET WAITERS RACE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH WE LIVE TO EAT REVIVES A FRENCH QUARTER TRADITION! Come out to the rescheduled event today!!! In honor of Bastille Day, New Orleans will join cities around the world in hosting a waiters race, a tradition started in Paris in the early 20th century to recognize the waitstaff profession. Coined "VIVE LA FRANCE, VIVE LA SEAFOOD!" the race serves as a celebration of the New Orleans local restaurant and seafood industries. Come cheer on 25 local waiters as they compete for prizes by speedwalking with trays of water down Decatur Street!!! The race begins at Cafe' du Monde and the Tornado Brass Band plays before the race and Hot Club New Orleans plays at the after party at Gazebo Cafe! Arrive by 3:45 to get your spot along Decatur...You don't want to miss this one!!
It looks like it may be a rainy day....so head on down to the Louisiana Children's Museum..today to the Museum with FREE admission to everyone from noon 'til 5:00 p. m. with the help of Target. Bring the family, and enjoy the fun!

Make sure to stop by the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park (916 N. Peters) for MAYES2 (Frank and Cindy Mayes) who will perform a concert of New Orleans jazz, classical, original & "nouveaux grooveaux" from 2-3:30pm. Admission is FREE!!!
Today is HURRICANE CEREMONY XIII this evening at Achade Meadows Peristyle (3319 Rosalie Alley ( of of Rampart between Piety and Desire) starting up at 7:00 pm it's a public prayer ceremony dedicated to Our Lady of Prompt Succor (who has intervened historically on New Orleans' behalf when a hurricane has threatened) and Ezili Danto (also associated with Mater Salvatoris and Moumt Carmel) to ask for protection from hurricanes.
What to bring in offering:
For Our Lady: flowers, statues, candles, religious pictures, jewelry.
For Danto: Barbancourt Rum, Clarin, Florida Water, candles, daggers, dolls dressed in red and blue with gold trim or calico prints, spicy black beans, peasant cakes, unfiltered cigarettes, pan fried cornbread with peppers, fried pork, white crème de menthe.
What to wear: Please dress in white (the color of purity), with red head scarves, or all red (the color of Petwo rites).
If you've never been to this party you got to go!! It's the Third Annual Hear Come the Girls Party at Rock 'N Bowl tonight at 9:30 p.m...Make sure you wear something fancy and you can dance to the sounds of Blue-Eyed Soul Review!

Dine Out Tonight!!!

There's lots going on today...so let's get to it!
Don't miss out on the weekly wine tasting at Cork and Bottle about 5:00 pm in Mid-City......Steve Wilshire from Glazer's Distributors is rolling out some of their favorite Argentine selections and a little something bubbly to get you going....and be sure to stop by the Crescent City Farmer's Market and patronize local Louisiana vendors with fresh veggies, seafood and more! Also at the Farmer's Market there's gonna be.....A Louisiana Eat In from 4:00 to 6:00 pm....to demonstrate to the nation that Louisiana seafood is still available, safe and delicious in conjunction with the publication of "Endangered Foods of the Gulf South". Many of the authors will be on hand to sign copies of the publication. Chef Chris Lusk of Café Adelaide, Louisiana's 2010 Seafood King; Chef Stephen Stryjewski of Cochon, Chef's Collaborative board member; Jay Nix of Parkway Bakery will serve free of charge, delicious dishes made with Louisiana Seafood!!!
It's a big show at the Ogden this evening!! The Ogden Southern Museum of Art better known as Ogden after Hours starts up at 6:00 pm with bluesy singer/songwriter, Colin Lake.....So come on down for some music, culture, fun and the "O" bar will be serving some yummy margaritas!! (remember if you get down there early - go grab a cocktail at the Circle Bar on Lee's Circle...one of the best happy hours in town!)

Vive La France!!!
Bonjour Ya'll!
Celebrate Bastille Day with the "Let them Eat Cake" Célébration in the French Market this morning! Here's the lowdown:
9:45 a.m. - Gather at Washington Artillery Park in your best French outfit, and look for the brass band.
10:00 a.m. - March on down to Dutch Alley.
10:20 a.m. Welcome remarks from Ken Ferdinand. Speeches by local French leaders and representatives of French organizations. Introduction of key speakers.
10:30 a.m. Ceremony at Joan of Arc statue at New Place de France (across the street from Dutch Alley). Wreath laying. Singing of Le Marseillaise.
10:45 a.m. Move indoors to Market Café. Champagne while supplies last. Musette music with Norbert Slama Trio.
11:00 a.m. Let Them Eat Cake! Marie Antoinette serves 100 pieces of cake to the public!!!
It's another Wednesday on the Point from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., and of course, admission is FREE..Take the ferry right over to the concert tonight and head to Louie's Corner Bar (500 Elmira) for Flow Tribe to celebrate University on the Point! Click the above link for complete concert series info!
Tonight is also the Mission to Musicians Concert Series at St. Anna's Episcopal Church, Parish Hall (1313 Esplanade Ave.) featuring Wilson & Moore at 7:30 pm. Just wondering when this rain is gonna leave us, but there's lots of good stuff going on today!!
You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch...be sure to check out the green plate special!!!
This evening there's lot of fun stuff going on....
Get your happy hour going at Le Booze (300 Bourbon Street) this evening from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm for Happy Hour Toasting with Margarita and Jean-Francois Bonnette. Come and enjoy Happy Hours drinks prepared by the wonderful bartenders of Le Booze in the Royal Sonesta Hotel under the guidance of Margarita Bergen and her co-host Jean-Francois Bonnete who will be introducing brand new Luksusowa Polish Vodka.....Jean Francois is the VP of WJ Deutsch & Sons. Ltd and Chairman of the French- American Chamber of Commerce of Houston....so let's show him some New Orleans Hospitality!!

Get Back into the Groove this Monday Evening!
Happy Monday Everybody!
Hope everybody has been enjoyed the many Bastille Day festivities this weekend...not it's time to get back in the Monday groove!
There's a fun double header over at Maison (508 Frenchmen)...You got The Sazerac Sunrise Jazz Band featuring Suzaune McKamey at 7:00 pm, and the Monday Night Super Jam hosted by Gene Harding at 10:00 pm...now this sounds like a fun way to spend your evening!!
It's another HOT Monday, but there's a great breeze from the river today...so it's a good night to take a stroll along the River Road levee, and while you're there be sure to stop at the River Shack Tavern at 7:00 pm for some really GOOD red beans and rice, and the cool sounds of Amanda Walker.
Get your evening started off right at Chickie Wah Wah on Canal....they have musical legend Spencer Bohren for an early show at 7:00 pm...and I'm sure there's gonna be some yummy food too!!
Keep out the heat and spend some time on the Avenue at The Columns....There's gonna be David Doucet from BeauSoleil fame, and while you're enjoying the sounds have a refreshing adult beverage and this will surely start your evening off right!
If you're headed to the Quarter go down to hear another amazing early show with Bob French and the Original Tuxedo Band at Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse show starts around 8:00 pm...with NO COVER!
BJ's Lounge (4301 Burgundy) has a special show tonight at 9:00 pm with King James and the Special Man...If you've never headed down to BJ's you gotta do it...and if they're serving those yummy burritos you have to get one...they are yummy!!!!

In honor of Bastille Day, New Orleans will join cities around the world in hosting a waiters race, a tradition started in Paris in the early 20th century to recognize the waitstaff profession. Coined "VIVE LA FRANCE, VIVE LA SEAFOOD!" the race serves as a celebration of the New Orleans local restaurant andseafood industries. The public is encouraged to attend and cheer on waiters as they make their way down Decatur Street from St. Ann Street to Ursulines Street. The race begins at 4 p.m. on Decatur Street at St. Ann (near Café du Monde). Waiters will register at Washington Artillery Park across from Jackson Square, where they will be fitted with an apron, napkin, waiters tray, and plastic wine glasses filled with water. Waiters will need to adhere to strict rules as they carry their tray in a straight shot down Decatur Street to Ursulines, just past the Joan of Arc statue, where the race ends...You don't want to miss this one!!

Bastille Day Saturday
Happy Saturday!
It's City Park's Blessing of the Fleet. The ceremony begins at 11:00 am with an official blessing from Deacon Robert Normand. Following will be a celebration with FREE bike and boat rides until 1:00 pm. This event is FREE and open to the public.
Joy Ride Bike Rentals, a locally owned company, is joining forces with City Park to bring guests the option of bicycling throughout the park. Also added to the line-up is NOLA Gondola, offering relaxing and romantic gondola rides. Bicycles will be rented during the existing boating hours of operation: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 am - 7:00 pm. Gondola rides will be offered from 1:00 pm - 10:00 pm, Wednesday through Sunday (subject to heat, wind or severe weather). Visitors to the area surrounding Big Lake can also find Williams-Plum Snowballs shaving ice every Saturday and Sunday.
Make sure to head down to the Louisiana Music Factory (210 Decatur) for the Free Concert Series...with the Turnip Greens at 2pm and Wilson & Moore 3pm...this is always a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon!!
Please be sure to come out and celebrate the Feast of St. Henry Reunion.....The Friends of St. Henry is hosting a reunion party at St. Henry's Catholic Church (812 General Pershing)beginning with a vigil Mass in the church at 3:00 pm following Mass, a block party with food, drinks,snowballs and music by the J. Monque'D Blues Band.
And of course it's the big Faubourg St. John Bastille Celebration.
Fun, food, drink, and dancing in the street! The Gypsy Jazz Trio, a French dance band begins playing at 5:00PM. Cynthia Scott will sing La Marseilllaise at 5:30PM. Some Like It Hot will inspire dancers of all ages and skill levels between 7:00 and 9PM. Participants include Café Degas, Canseco’s Grocery, Fair Grinds Coffee House, Liuzza’s by the Tracks, Lola’s Café, Lux Spa, Pal’s Lounge, De Blanc’s Pharmacy, Nonna Mia’s Restaurant, Santa Fe Restaurant, Swirl Wines, Faubourg St. John Neighborhood Association, Big Al’s Sausage, and Terranova’s Grocery. It's a big show at the Ogden this evening!! The Ogden Southern Museum of Art better known as Ogden after Hours starts up at 6:00 pm with Ralph "Soul" Jackson come enjoy some classic R&B and soul by this legendary musician from Alabama....this event is sponsored by the Ponderosa Stomp Foundation. So come on down for some music, culture, fun and the "O" bar will be serving some yummy margaritas!! (remember if you get down there early - go grab a cocktail at the Circle Bar on Lee's Circle...one of the best happy hours in town!)
You can also go hang out at City Park this evening for The Thursdays at Twilight Garden Concert Series with Philip Melancon! Celebrate Latin Wednesday at the Point!!

Get your night started off right with Happy Hour at Ralph's on the Park! Ralph's on the Park (900 City Park Avenue) tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 pm...There'll be $2 Abita Amber, $5 specialty cocktails/select wines, and hors d'oeuvers compliments of Chef Chip Flanagan...plus door prizes from Tales of the Cocktail!!

Another Rainy Tuesday!
Happy Tuesday Everybody,
Just wondering when this rain is gonna leave us, but there's lots of good stuff going on today!!
You can get your day started off right with a trip to the Farmer's Market!!! Visit the Crescent City's Farmer's Market at University Square (200 Broadway) from 9:00 to 1:00 pm and pick up some fresh seafood, veggies and you can even get some lunch! Surrey's Cafe' is providing some yummy lunch under the GPS tent. Come by for gazpacho, soft corn or flour tortillas, mole de guajolote (house-smoked turkey breast with mole), cochinita pibil con cebollas encurtidas (achiote-marinated pork slow-roasted in banana leaves, served with pickled onions), pollo con salsa de tomatillo (grilled chicken with tomatillo sauce), grilled vegetable and cheese with roasted tomato salsa, black beans with Mexican rice, chips with pico de gallo, chips with guacamole, and Surrey’s Combination Plate ($8.50) - 2 tacos, black beans & rice, and guacamole with chips....now that sounds delicious!
This evening there's lot of fun stuff going on....
For more music fun....come on down to Chickie Wah Wah on Canal Street to enjoy the amazing John Mooney!! Music starts about 8:00 pm, but come early to get a good seat.
You can also head on over to Bullet's Sports Bar (2441 AP Tureaud) at about 8:30ish and get down to the sounds of Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ Swingers...there's really no better place to spend your Tuesday night and have a few drinks to celebrate!
If you're lookin' for some Rockin' and Bowlin' and some good food too...Have some dinner over at Ye Olde College Inn..where you'll get some yummy food and a discounted ticket to Rock 'N Bowl...right next door!! It's Brint Anderson's tribute to Snooks Eaglin tonight...and the show gets kickin' about 8:30 pm.

Happy July 5th...Gal Holiday and some BJ's!!!
Happy Monday Everybody!
Hope everyone had a fun Independence Day!
There's a fun triple header over at Maison (508 Frenchmen)...You got Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Review at 4:00 pm, The Sazerac Sunrise Jazz Band featuring Caroline Fourmy at 7:00 pm, and an Open Jam with Soul Project at 10:00 pm...now this sounds like a fun way to spend your Monday holiday!!
It's another HOT Monday, but there's a great breeze from the river today...so it's a good night to take a stroll along the River Road levee, and while you're there be sure to stop at the River Shack Tavern at 7:00 pm for some really GOOD red beans and rice, and the cool sounds of Amanda Walker.
Get your evening started off right at Chickie Wah Wah on Canal....they have musical legend Spencer Bohren for an early show at 7:00 pm...and I'm sure there's gonna be some yummy food too!!
Keep out the heat and spend some time on the Avenue at The Columns....There's gonna be David Doucet from BeauSoleil fame and while you're enjoying the sounds have a refreshing adult beverage and this will surely start your evening off right!
If you're headed to the Quarter go down to hear another amazing early show with Bob French and the Original Tuxedo Band at Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse show starts around 8:00 pm...with NO COVER!
BJ's Lounge (4301 Burgundy) has a special show tonight at 9:00 pm with King James and the Special Man...If you've never headed down to BJ's you gotta do it...and if they're serving those yummy burritos you have to get one...they are yummy!!!!
If you're lookin' for some bluegrass music tonight you don't have to go too far to find it....Check out the Hi Ho Lounge on St. Claude and the Bluegrass Pickin' Party at 8:00 pm...there's no cover and FREE red beans at this show too!
Be sure to make a stop by the Spotted Cat early for this great line-up of music....Brett Richardson at 4:00 pm, Dominic Grillo and The Frenchmen Street All Stars at 6:00 pm and be sure to stay on for the Jazz Vipers at 10:00 pm.....it's sure to be another smokin' Monday evening show.

And it's the St. Charles Parish Independence Day Celebration at the West Bank Bridge Park, 13825 River Road....Festivities start up at 6:15 with a military flyover...and you can catch the Wiseguys at 6:30 (they're everywhere!!) and the big fireworks show at starts at 9:00!!
And even more fireworks!! It's the Slidell Heritage Festival at Heritage Park today from 3:00 to 11:00 pm....There'll be music from John Conlee, the Chee Weez, Big Al and the Heavyweights and T'Cnaille...with another big fireworks show at 9:00 pm!!
