Good Morning Everybody,
It's French Quarter Fest Eve and the City is kickin' with loads of things to do! So, let's see what's happenin'!
Thursday Events
Need a little culture and music? You gotta go to the show at the Ogden Southern Museum of Art better known as Ogden after Hours. The concert starts up at 6:00 pm. and you'll get to check out Evan Christopher's Clarinet Road while they explore the musical possibilities that come from celebrating the traditions of New Orleans jazz. Led by Evan Christopher, this group reinvigorates jazz standards by adding funk, blues and more....another excellent show at the "O"...so come on down for some music, culture and fun! (remember if you get down there early - go grab a cocktail at the Circle Bar on Lee's Circle...one of the best happy hours in town!)
Need to get your gambling on and want to eat some crawfish too? Join Harrah's on Fulton Square this Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm for Bugs, Buds and Bands with Five Finger Discount!! Enjoy music, beer, and crawfish "with all the fixin's" with special deals for Harrah's Total Rewards members (the crawfish is a $1.00 a pound!!)
Want to hang out in the park this evening?? No problem. The Thursdays at Twilight Garden Concert Series is going on featuring Topsy Chapman. The gates open up at 5:00 pm and the performance starts at 6:00 pm in the City Park Botanical Garden Pavilion of the Two Sisters...There is an admission charge, but hey, it's helping the Park out..so....it's a good thing...$8 for adults and $3 for children.
Craving some more crawfish and don't want to gamble? Not a problem....There's some waiting for you at the one and only historical Mother-in-Law Lounge tonight - starting at 6:00 pm and rolling on 'til 10:00. The Funk'n Blues'n Crawfish experience continues tonight with Ernie Vincent and the Top Notes with fresh CRAWFISH by Shaggy's Boil....Just saw Shaggy yesterday and he said this boil will be rockin'!!!
Be sure to go by Chickie Wah Wah tonight at 6:00 pm for the Matt Perrine and the Sunflower City Band CD release party!! $20 gets you the new CD "Bayou Road Suite", food and live music from the Sunflower City Band!!!
And besides all that....there's the usual Thursday nite fun stuff. Make sure to stop by Vaughn's for Kermit Ruffins...cause there ain't nothin' more New Orleans than Vaughn's on a Thursday night (and Mr. Ruffins should be pretty pumped up about the premiere of the HBO series Treme this Sunday!!!)
That should get you geared up for French Quarter fest tomorrow - and if you need more fun check out the Offbeat music listings!!
